Water Heaters

How long does a water heater last?

A traditional tank water heater typically lasts 8–12 years with proper maintenance. Tankless water heaters can last 15–20 years. Houston's hard water can shorten lifespan on tank models, so annual flushing is recommended.

Should I repair or replace my water heater?

If your unit is more than 10 years old, has multiple leaks, or repair costs exceed half the price of a new install, replacement is usually the smarter long-term choice. We give you both options up front so you can decide.

What are the signs my water heater is failing?

Rust-colored water, popping or rumbling noises, hot water that runs out quickly, leaks around the base, or visible corrosion on the tank are all warning signs.

Do you handle gas and electric water heaters?

Yes — we service and install both gas and electric tank water heaters, plus tankless gas and electric units.

How quickly can you replace a failed water heater?

In most cases, we offer same-day or next-day replacement during business hours. Call early in the day for the best chance of same-day service.

Do you offer warranties on water heaters?

Yes. Most new water heaters come with a manufacturer warranty (typically 6–12 years on the tank, 1 year on parts), and we back our installation labor with a 1-year written labor warranty.

Tankless Systems

Is a tankless water heater worth it?

For most Houston households, yes. Tankless units deliver endless hot water, use 20–40% less energy than tank models, and last 15–20 years. The upfront cost is higher, but long-term savings and convenience usually justify it.

Will a tankless system give me enough hot water for the whole house?

Properly sized tankless units handle most homes easily. We size based on your peak demand — number of bathrooms, fixtures running simultaneously, and incoming water temperature.

How often does a tankless need maintenance?

We recommend an annual descaling, especially in Houston where hard water deposits build up faster. Regular maintenance preserves efficiency and warranty coverage.

Can I switch from a tank to tankless?

Yes, but it often requires gas line upgrades, electrical work, and venting changes. We handle the full conversion and pull all required permits.

Water Treatment

Do I need a water softener in Houston?

Houston water averages 11–15 grains per gallon — solidly in the "hard" range. A softener protects water heaters, appliances, fixtures, and pipes from scale buildup and extends their lifespan significantly.

What's the difference between a softener and a whole-home filter?

A softener removes hardness minerals (calcium, magnesium). A whole-home filter removes chlorine, sediment, and contaminants for better-tasting, healthier water. Many homes benefit from both.

How much salt does a softener use?

For a typical Houston home, expect to add 1–2 bags of salt per month. Higher-efficiency systems use less.

Will softened water feel slippery?

Yes, slightly. That's because soap rinses more completely without hardness minerals interfering. It's a sign the system is working.

Gas Lines

Do I need a permit for gas line work?

Yes — all gas line work in Texas requires a licensed plumber and an inspection. We handle permits, scheduling, and inspections for you.

How do I know if I have a gas leak?

Smell of rotten eggs (the odorant added to natural gas), hissing near a line, dead vegetation along a buried line, or a higher-than-normal gas bill. If you suspect a leak, leave the area and call your gas company first, then us.

Can you install a gas line for my generator?

Yes. Generator gas line installs are one of our most common projects. We coordinate with your generator installer and pull the required permits.

Remodels

Can you handle a full bathroom remodel's plumbing?

Yes — rough-in, drain relocation, supply line changes, fixture installation, and code inspection. We work with your contractor or directly with you.

Do you move drain lines for kitchen remodels?

Yes. Moving sink and dishwasher drains is one of our common remodel tasks. We assess slope, venting, and code compliance before quoting.

When in the remodel process should I bring in a plumber?

As early as possible. Plumbing layout affects framing, drywall, and finish timelines. Bringing us in during design saves time and money downstream.
